Terms & Conditions

This national call for entry is open to all artists living or working in the United States. Only original alternative process prints or plates will be accepted for exhibition, please no digital prints. All entries must be original works of art and entirely the work of the entrant. Accepted entries will be exhibited at The Image Flow in Mill Valley, CA.

Eligibility
All artists living or working in the United States working in alternative photographic processes.
See AlternativePhotography.com for accepted mediums.
All artwork must be framed to professional standards. For details see Framing section of Terms & Conditions.

Registration & Fees
$30 non-refundable registration fee. Artists may submit up to 3 images for review once registered.

Jury
Niniane Kelley, Brian Taylor, Ed Carey, and The Image Flow.

Image File Requirements
2500 px on the longest edge, 72 ppi, JPG saved at 80% quality in sRGB colorspace.
*File size must be limited to 4mb*


Submission Details
Artists will be notified of accepted work via email about 5 weeks after the submission deadline. All selected photographs will be posted on our website upon receiving decisions from the jury. We send an email to each accepted photographer but please also check the website at selection time.

Exhibition Details
Selected artwork will hang in The Image Flow’s main gallery space for approximately 3 months.
Due to social distancing concerns, there will be no reception for this exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public by appointment or during The Image Flow's regular business hours.

Accepted Artwork
As an exhibition artist please follow these logistics in preparation for the show:

  1. Properly frame the original alternative process print or plate.
  2. Print the online receipt (to be submitted with your artwork).
  3. Physically submit the piece to the show.


Framing
Selected images must be matted and framed to professional standards with a simple black metal or wood frame and covered in glass or acrylic unless prior approval has been obtained. All frames must be wired in the back for hanging, no sawtooth hangers. The Image Flow reserves the right to reject any piece not framed to our standards.

The Image Flow realizes alternative processes frequently involve alternative presentation techniques and will work with exhibitors to accommodate exceptions for this show

Sales
Artists exhibiting at the Gallery may offer their work for sale at a price of their choosing. The Image Flow encourages sales during exhibitions and retains a 50% commission on work sold. The artist receives 50% of the sale price. For further responsibilities regarding the sale of artwork, please contact the gallery.

Sending your Work
Artists are responsible for artwork delivery, pickup, shipping, and insurance.

Shipping & Insurance
The Image Flow carries insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the exhibit but not in transit.
Artists are responsible for all shipping charges to and from the gallery. Artists are also responsible for providing their own shipping insurance coverage if desired. FedEx (preferred) or UPS only.

If you are shipping us your work and you would like your work returned, you must also include a prepaid shipping label from FedEx (preferred) or UPS only. In the event that your work does not sell. We will not be responsible for work without a prepaid return label 14 days after the exhibit is taken down.


Copyright
Artists retain all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose work is chosen for exhibition inclusion grant The Image Flow permission to use images for promoting the exhibition, artist, or The Image Flow and its programs, and current and past exhibitions. Images may be placed on social media for promotion and features. Artists grant usage as stated without further compensation.

Consent Criteria
As artists participating in one of our shows you are consenting to be added to our mailing list to receive updates for promotional information about the show. Please also feel free to follow us on social media for relevant promotion across the board at @theimageflow and “The Image Flow” on respective platforms.

After the Show
If your art does not sell at the exhibition you have the option to have it returned (Prepaid) or donate it to The Image Flow’s Flat File. Flat File artwork is available for viewing, may be exhibited again, donated to another organization or sold to benefit The Image Flow. If sold, The Image Flow retains all profits from the sale. Flat File art is destroyed two years after the close of the original exhibition.
